Ashburton College

Ashburton College is a decile 7 school in Ashburton, New Zealand, catering for years 9-13. Ashburton College has a roll of approximately 1200 students and 135 staff, including 87 full-time and part-time teachers. The most recent ERO report was in 2007. (Education Review Office). International Students The College accepts a small number of international students each year through both student exchanges and as direct enrolments. Deputy principal Scott Haines was awarded the NEiTA Excellence in Teaching and Leadership Award in 2008. Mr Haines is now the Principal of Motueka High School, a position he began in Term 4 2009 In 2008, The Education Review Office ranked the school the top in the country for the promotion of male's learning. Statistics from the 2008 NCEA results ranked the school fifth in performance out of the 19 decile seven to nine schools. Media Coverage.   • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
