Chongqing Jiaotong University was founded in 1951 as a multiple disciplinary University with engineering being the primary focus. The university has also invested in the harmonious development of other disciplines especially management, natural sciences and humanities. Situated in the Nanan District of the Chongqing Municipality the University has a campus occupying an area of over 1600 mu with a floor space of 600,000 square meters well equipped with teaching instruments and facilities of a total value of over 130 million yuan. The university also boasts a library of 1.4 million books and a broad band network that covers every corner of the campus. Chongqing Jiaotong University is authorized to confer 3 Ph.D. degree programs, 27 masters degree programs and 42 bachelor degree majors It also is qualified to confer masters degree to personnel of the same academic background and authority to confer engineering masters degrees in five different fields. The total enrollment of full time students is over 16000.
