Finger Lakes Community College

Finger Lakes Community College, often abbreviated FLCC, is a college affiliated with the State University of New York. The college has four locations: Canandaigua (the main campus), and campus centers in Victor, Geneva, and Newark, all in order to serve the needs of Ontario County, Wayne County, Yates County and Seneca County in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Finger Lakes Community College was established in 1965 and opened in 1967 as the Community College of the Finger Lakes (CCFL) in a storefront "campus" in Canandaigua, NY. The college now rests on 250 acres (1.0 km) of park-like land just outside Canandaigua, in Hopewell, NY, and is home to the Constellation Brands- Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center (CMAC). The college now has affiliated housing in the 350 bed College Suites project, adjacent to the campus. In Fall 2010, FLCC's headcount enrollment was 6,935 the highest in its history. In July 2009, FLCC received a $1 Million gift from Constellation Brands and the Sands Family, the largest gift in the school's history.

Student Stories

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
