Islamic University of Technology or IUT (Bengali: ইসলামিক ইউনিভার্সিটি অফ টেকনোলজি) is an internationally recognized educational and research institution in Bangladesh. It is regarded as one of the top universities for technical education in Bangladesh. The main objective of IUT is to contribute in developing the human resources of the member states of the OIC, particularly in different fields of Engineering, Technology and Technical Education. IUT receives direct endowment from OIC member countries and offers scholarships to its students in the form of free tuition, boarding, lodging and medicare. The campus of this university is designed by a Turkish architect. IUT is located at Board Bazar, Gazipur, about 30 km north of Dhaka (Latitude=23'43`N, Longitude=90'25`E), the capital of Bangladesh. In this region of Bangladesh there are three well defined seasons in a year namely Winter (November - February), Summer (March - May) and Monsoon or Rainy season (June - September). Here, the temperature ranges from a minimum of about 10 degree Celsius in the Winter to an average of 32 degree Celsius in the Summer. Average yearly rainfall is 225 cm.
