Manar University of Tripoli

The Manar University of Tripoli (MUT; Arabic: جامعة المنار في طرابلس‎), also known as the Rashid Karami Institution for Higher Education, is a private accredited university located in Tripoli, Lebanon. The University was founded on the 15th of November, 1990 by Presidential Decree No. 720. Al-Manar University of Tripoli (MUT)'s establishment was first proposed in 1985, when the late Prime Minister Rashid Karami collaborated with educator Muhieddin Makkouk and a group of prominent Tripoli citizens on a project to meet the educational concerns of North Lebanon. In 1986 they formally established the "Al-Manar Society", a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality education to students of North Lebanon and other regions of the Arab World. After the assassination of Rashid Karami, Prime Minister Omar Karami assumed the Chairmanship of "Al-Manar Society", and formed the first University Board of Trustees in 1990. The Board was chaired by Karami and involved 18 other members from Lebanon and the Arab World. MUT's current president is Dr.Sami Menkara. The FAD building has a floor area of 3300 m² and has a capacity of 550 students.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
