Philadelphia University is a university in Amman, Jordan. Philadelphia Private University was established in 1989 as a national higher educational institution. The university is located 20-km out of Amman, on the road linking between Amman and Jerash. Philadelphia University has enrolled more than 7,494 students in the university’s 8 faculties in the year 2006. The university has 368 academic staff. As it carries the former name of Amman under the Hellenistic rule, it shows Hellenistic columns in its logo. The flag places the logo on a white background. Philadelphia University is currently organized in 8 faculties: The Library was established with the University itself in 1991. It aims to contribute to the University's mission in teaching, research, and community development through providing and developing information resources using the latest trends in information technology. In addition to its duties, the library provides guidance, and current awareness services along with the electronic resources services. The Library building was officially opened on 1 November 1998.
