The Women’s College (TWC) is one of eight undergraduate colleges at the University of Denver and the Rocky Mountain Region’s only all-women’s college. It was formerly the Colorado Women’s College before merging with the University of Denver in 1982. The University of Denver (DU) is the Rocky Mountain Region’s premiere educational institution with a strong reputation for quality, innovation and scholarship. DU offers the benefits of a small, private college and the access and resources of a large research institution. The Colorado Women’s College was founded in 1888 and opened its doors to its first students as a two-year college in 1909, with enrollment at 59 students its first year. Over the next ten years it changed into a four-year institution, and offered both BS and BA degrees. The 1920s and the 1930s brought change to the campus as two more buildings, the Foote and Porter Halls, were constructed. Meanwhile, the Colorado Women’s College once again became a two-year institution. In 1932, the college received accreditation by the North Central Association.
