United International College (UIC; simplified Chinese: 联合国际学院; traditional Chinese: 聯合國際學院) situated in Zhuhai and jointly founded by Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University, is the first full-scale cooperation in higher education between Mainland China and Hong Kong. Its charter has been approved by the Ministry of Education with full support from local authorities. Its mission is to build a new model for liberal education in China and to nurture talented future graduates with international perspectives. Since its Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony in November 2005, UIC has grown into an international college with a unique educational approach. Thirteen undergraduate programs are currently being offered by three divisions, namely the Business and Management Division, the Humanities and Social Science Division, and the Science and Technology Division. Graduates will be awarded degrees by HKBU and Graduation Certificates by UIC as well. UIC faculty members are recruited from more than 20 countries and regions, 45% of whom are from abroad, 19% from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, and 36% from Mainland China with overseas study experience.
