Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH) is a public institution of higher education located in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. The University grants law, education, dentistry, architecture, and medicine degrees, plus several other additional fields of study. It has its origin in the San Nicolás de Hidalgo school founded at 1540 in México by Vasco de Quiroga. Officially founded as university in 1917. The University has several campuses, located at Morelia, Uruapan, and Apatzingan. The University is accredited at the national level by the Asociación Nacional de Universidades e Instituciones de Educación Superior (ANUIES). The University is divided into several academic facultades. Prospective students must have a high school degree, preferably from a college preparatory high school, and pass a university entrance exam to be admitted into the academic division of their choice. The University integrates various programs amongst its extracurricular offerings.
