1°18′23.6″N 103°55′14.2″E / 1.306556°N 103.920611°E / 1.306556; 103.920611 Victoria Junior College (abbreviation: VJC) is a Pre-University co-educational institution in Singapore. It was established to replace the Pre-University classes of Victoria School in 1984. It stands on Marine Vista, about 5-minute walk to the East Coast Park. It in the East Region of Singapore. Since its establishment, Victoria Junior College has produced several President scholars, and many top students. Victoria School (VS) generally has a good proportion of the students qualified to enter a two-year Junior College course instead of a 3-year Pre-University course since the Junior College (JC) system started in the late 1960s. While VS started being a Pre-University Centre in 1979, by around 1980 it became clear that Victoria School students with better 'O'-level results were choosing to enter other Junior Colleges instead of attending the Pre-U centre of VS after Secondary 4. Old Victorians like Dr Ong Chit Chung and the OVA (Old Victorian Association) therefore proposed to Singapore's Ministry of Education (MOE) the idea of a Junior College named after and affiliated to Victoria School.
