Applemore Technology College

Applemore Technology College is a secondary school in Hampshire, UK, situated near the small village of Dibden Purlieu very near to the New Forest. It offers education to students between the ages of 11 and 16 and has had specialist subject status for the teaching of Technology. The college's slogan is "going forward together." The number of students on roll has dropped in the last few years from 854 in 2001 down to 600 in 2008. The college was built in 1969 as a comprehensive co-educational school. It became one of the first Technology Colleges in 1994. In the mid nineties, the college suffered an arson attack that destroyed the interior of the "New Block" which housed the arts and languages departments. Temporary buildings were erected to house these departments before the building was repaired the following year, and the college is currently undergoing a massive investment in its buildings. In the report of the Ofsted Inspection carried out on 12–13 October 2005, the school was rated as inadequate, although the teaching was rated as good.. Frank Callaghan was succeeded by Matthew Longden as Headteacher in September 2005.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
