The Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi's Extension Centre at Patna, India, was established in 2006, on the request of the Government of Bihar. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Institute and the Government of Bihar in December 2005. The Government of Bihar allotted 25 acres (100,000 m) of land and released the funds for establishing the Centre. The foundation stone of the Centre was laid on 24 December 2005 and construction started in April 2006. BIT Patna campus is in AICTE approved institution list.
