Bramson ORT College

Bramson ORT College is an undergraduate college in New York City operated by ORT America and US ORT Operations, the American branch of the Jewish charity World ORT. Its main campus is in Forest Hills, Queens, with a satellite campus in Brooklyn. Bramson ORT College opened in 1977 at a location on 23rd Street and Park Avenue South in Manhattan, to provide technical education at the college level. Bramson ORT College is accredited by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York. Associate's degree, certificate and diploma programs are registered by the New York State Education Department, which has accredited the school since 1979. Bramson ORT College is a not-for-profit educational institution. Starting in fall 2008, the school will offer boys aged 16-20 a curriculum of yeshiva studies in the morning and vocational training in the afternoon, in a joint program with Chabad aimed at students at risk of dropping out of a traditional yeshiva program. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a GED (for those without a high school diploma), as well as an Associate of Arts degree in their chosen area of study.

Student Stories

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
