Busitema University (BU), is a university in Uganda. It is one of the five public universities in Uganda, which include Makerere University, Mbarara University, Kyambogo University and Gulu University. Busitema University has as its main focus, the instruction of agricultural sciences, agricultural mechanization and agribusiness. Busitema University has its main campus in Busitema, Busia District on the Jinja - Tororo Highway, approximately 28 kilometres (17 mi), by road, southwest of Tororo. The coordinates of the main university campus are:00 32 42N, 34 01 30E (Latitude:0.5450; Longitude:34.0250). Other campuses are located in: Busitema University was founded in 1968 as a government agricultural institute Busitema National College of Agricultural Mechanization, with the assistance of the then Soviet Union. In 2007, the college was elevated to University status, offering certificate, diploma and degree courses.
