Cabra Dominican College is a private, independent high school located at Cumberland Park in Adelaide, South Australia. It was established by an order of Dominican sisters in 1886. Originally offering a co-educational primary education and a high school education for girls, it began accepting boys into the high school in 1978. The school serves educational year grades from 6 to 13, and accepts many international students from countries such as China, South Korea, Brazil, Japan and Italy. The college was established after 1868, at the invitation of the Bishop of Adelaide, seven Dominican sisters came to South Australia and opened a school for both boarders and day students in Franklin Street, located in the Adelaide city area. In 1886, the boarders moved to a new school, the present Cabra Dominican College. The new site, now a suburban area, was then regarded as country, being a large area of bare, unoccupied land, somewhere to the south and in great distance of central Adelaide.
