Dalton State College

Dalton State College, also referred to as DSC or Dalton State, is one of eight state colleges in the University System of Georgia; it is also one of four University System units with a Technical Division supervised by the separate Technical College System of Georgia. The college is located in Dalton, Georgia. The college was founded as Dalton Junior College in July 1963 and opened in September 1967 offering programs designed to provide the first two years of college work for students preparing to transfer to four-year degree granting institutions. The addition of a vocational and technical division in 1976 made the school a comprehensive community college, able to serve nontransfer students wishing to develop work skills at the certificate or associate-degree level. In 1987, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia removed the word "Junior" from the college's name: It became Dalton College. The University System changed the name to Dalton State College in 1998 and authorized the development of the college's first baccalaureate degree programs, all in business and technology.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
