J Sargeant Reynolds Community College

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College (JSRCC) is a community college serving not only Richmond, Virginia, but Goochland County, Hanover County, Henrico County, Louisa County, Powhatan County as well. Named for Lieutenant Governor J. Sargeant Reynolds, JSRCC is a member of the Virginia Community College System. Since its inception, JSRCC has grown into the third largest college in the Virginia Community College System, enrolling students at three major campuses, at 5 off-campus sites, and "virtually" through distance learning. The college currently offers 24 two-year occupational/technical degree programs, 9 occupational/technical certificate programs, 5 two-year college transfer programs, and 43 career studies certificate programs requiring less than one-year of full-time study. Dr. Gary L. Rhodes has served as president since October 2002. JSRCC has three campuses: Downtown, Parham Road, and Western. The Downtown Campus is housed in a modern, high-rise structure at Seventh and Jackson Streets, having moved in the fall of 1981 from leased facilities in the 100 block of East Grace Street.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
