John McGlashan College

John McGlashan College is a state, integrated secondary, day and boarding school for boys, located in the suburb of Maori Hill in Dunedin, New Zealand. The school currently caters for approximately 490 students from years 7 to 13, including 110 boarders. The school is named after John McGlashan, a significant Presbyterian lawyer, politician, public servant and educationalist, and was founded after his daughters' gift of the family home and estate in 1919 on the provision that a Presbytarian school was established for boys. Originally established as a Presbyterian private school, John McGlashan College integrated in to the state system in 1989. John McGlashan College has a relationship with Ichikawa Gakuen, a large private school near Tokyo, Japan. There is also an annual exchange with the Centre International de Valbonne and Lycée Regional Valbonne Sophia-Antipolis in France for those who take part in the French program at the college. The German Exchange is a nation-wide exchange and is also supported by the college through its German program.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
