Johnson & Wales University

ohnson & Wales University (JWU, J&W) is a private, nonprofit, co-educational, career-oriented university with four campuses located throughout the United States. Providence, Rhode Island, USA, is home to JWU's first and largest of four currently operating campuses. Founded as a business school in 1914, by Gertrude I. Johnson and Mary T. Wales, JWU currently has 17,230 students enrolled in business, counseling psychology, culinary arts, education, engineering, equine management, hospitality, and technology programs across its campuses. The University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges, Inc. (NEAS&C), through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. Johnson & Wales University operates campuses in four locations: Providence, Rhode Island; North Miami, Florida; Denver, Colorado; and Charlotte, North Carolina (Two previous campuses in Norfolk, Virginia, and Charleston, South Carolina, were consolidated into the Charlotte Campus in September 2003). JWU currently has four academic units at all four of its campuses: the College of Business, the College of Culinary Arts, The Hospitality College , and the School of Arts & Sciences.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
