Jones College

Jones College is a private college founded in 1918 in Jacksonville, Florida. The college is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). The college's main "Arlington Campus" is located on the east bank of the St. Johns River at the base of the Mathews Bridge. There is a second campus on the west side of town. A third campus, in Miami, Florida, was closed in August of 2010. The college curriculum includes bachelor's degree and associate degree programs in a variety of fields and now offers Distance Learning. A notable feature of the school is Jones College Radio, a non-commercial broadcast from the campus on station WKTZ-FM (90.9 MHz), 24 hours a day. The programming content is easy listening, branded as "Beautiful Music". The station began as an AM station in 1964, then switched to FM in 1973. The station is played in many businesses and professional offices on the First Coast instead of commercial muzak and can be accessed via the station's Internet website. Jones College also operates WJAX-AM 1220 which features the syndicated America's Best Music format of adult standards. It, too can be accessed via the station's Internet website.

Student Stories

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
