Kennebec Valley Community College

Kennebec Valley Community College, one of the seven colleges in the Maine Community College System, is a community college located on a sixty-four acre campus in Fairfield, Maine. Kennebec Valley Community College was organized in 1969 by the 104th Maine Legislature and first classes began in the fall of 1970, with 35 full-time and 131 part-time students. Since then, KVCC has undergone many changes and has grown to an enrollment of 2,292  full- and part-time students enrolled in credit courses for the fall semester, 2009. In addition, KVCC offers a comprehensive schedule of continuing education courses and business and industry outreach programs. The College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. and offers more than 30;full-time associate degree, diploma and certificate programs. In 2009, the total enrollment was 2,292. 30% were men and 70% were women.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
