Lawrence College Ghora Gali, near Murree in Punjab, Pakistan is one of the oldest boarding schools in Pakistan. It was established in 1860 during the British Raj, named after Major General Sir Henry Montgomery Lawrence Sir Henry Montgomery Lawrence had the idea of establishing schools for the education of the children of deceased and serving soldiers and officers of the British Army. His dream took shape and four such schools,known as Lawrence Military Asylums were established around India. The first two during his lifetime at Sanawar (in present day Himachal Pradesh) in 1847, and Mount Abu (in present day Rajasthan) in 1856. The third at Lovedale, near Ootacamund (in present day Tamil Nadu) on 6 September 1858, and finally the fourth one in Ghora Gali in 1860. Lawrence was killed defending Lucknow during the Indian rebellion of 1857. In 1860 the present Prep School Boarding House Building, believed to be the first ever building on GG campus, housed both boys and girls.
