Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU)(Hindi: महर्षि दयानंद विश्वविद्यालय) is a public university located at Rohtak, Haryana, India. Established in 1976 and named after the great saint Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati, the varsity is a premier institution of higher education in the region. The university offers courses in different fields of study at undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral levels. Besides offering courses at campus, it also acts as an affiliating university and provides several programs through various colleges, institutes and centers throughout the region. MDU Rohtak shares its campus with IIM Rohtak. On close scrutiny, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited the University with E-- STAR status based on 0-15 percent score. Maharshi Dayanand University was established through an Act of the Legislative Assembly of Haryana in the year 1976 with a specific objective- "To establish and incorporate a teaching-cum-affiliating university at Rohtak for the encouragement of interdisciplinary higher education and research with special emphasis on studies of life sciences and environmental and ecological sciences".
