Marist College, New Zealand

Marist College is a Catholic girls high-school located in Mt Albert, Auckland, New Zealand. It teaches from year 7 through to Year 13 with a curriculum based on Roman Catholicism. It has a maximum student capacity of 800 girls. The Marist Sisters congregation or order of Roman Catholic women was started in France during the early 19th century by Jeanne-Marie Chavoin and Jean-Claude Colin. The Marist Sisters founded the school known as Marist Sisters College in Mt Albert in 1928. The school officially changed its name to Marist College in 2000. The whole school community, through the general school programme and its instruction and observances, exercises the right to love and teach the values of Jesus Christ. Marist College has daily prayers, regular celebrations of the sacraments of Eucharist and formal study of a religious education programme. Each year, Marist College has a Marist Day, starting with a Mass in the morning and a themed fun time after that. It is always on August 15, also the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. In 2008, it celebrated Marist Day's 30th Anniversary, which started in 1978. Marist College's school colours are gold and blue.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
