Mount Maunganui College

Mount Maunganui College is a co-educational state school located in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, near Mt Maunganui Intermediate. It was established in 1958, the same year that Tauranga College was split into Tauranga Boys' College and Tauranga Girls' College. It has many classrooms, a library, two large halls, a 33 metre outdoor swimming pool, basketball court, a large sports field and several netball/tennis courts. There is also a Maori marae located on the ground. The school is currently undergoing extensive renovation and expansion in order to cater for the increasing school roll and promote a clean, corporate image. Mount Maunganui College is a popular choice for international students, particularly students from Germany, Italy, Brazil, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, Korea and recently, the United States. 2008 also saw the school adopt the motto of "No Choice But Success". In the years 2000, 2005, 2007 and 2010, Mount Maunganui College competed in the Auckland Stage Challenge competition and won. The 2010 performance also won National Stage Challenge competition.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
