Our Lady of Mercy College

Our Lady of Mercy College (O.L.M.C), is a Roman Catholic, secondary day school for girls, situated in Heidelberg, a north-eastern suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The college is conducted by the Sisters of Mercy, a congregation of religious Sisters founded in Dublin, Ireland, by Catherine McAuley. O.L.M.C is a member of Girls Sport Victoria (GSV) and the Catholic All Schools Sports Association (CAS). On 24 January 1910, three Sisters of Mercy came to "Roma", a private house in Cape Street. Two Sisters took charge of St. Monica's (now St. John's) Primary School and a secondary school was commenced with a nucleus of six pupils. The convent of Mercy was built in 1911, and was blessed and opened on the feast of Our Lady of Mercy, 24 September 1911. A new wooden school house was built in 1911 and the school had an enrolment of 14 pupils. The school was named Our Lady of Mercy College in 1927. Two brick classrooms which today are part of the administration block were built in 1928. By this time the enrolment had risen to around 70.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
