Parkland College

Parkland College is a community college located in Champaign, Illinois. This fully accredited, public community college delivers vocational-technical and academic instruction to District 505, the third largest community college district in Illinois. Parkland is a center for educational opportunity and community enrichment in east central Illinois and has earned a national reputation for excellent academic standards, innovative programs, and quality instruction. In 2008, the college was selected by the US Department of Education’s "Community Colleges Can!" project as one of the initiative's 12 initial mentor colleges. Built on 233 acres (0.94 km) of landscaped grounds in Champaign, Illinois, Parkland is centrally located and accessible to all 54 communities in its district. The beautiful, quiet campus is situated near the intersection of interstate highways 57, 72, and 74 and is a seven- to 10-minute drive from the University of Illinois campus. It takes about 2½ hours to reach Parkland from downtown Chicago and Indianapolis and 3½ hours from St. Louis.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
