Pierce College is a community college district operating in and serving Pierce County in the U.S. state of Washington. The district consists of two main colleges, Pierce College Fort Steilacoom in Lakewood and Pierce College Puyallup in Puyallup, and auxiliary campuses at Fort Lewis, McChord Air Force Base, and in South Hill. In 2006 the Library won a national Excellence award. Pierce College offers associate's degrees, mainly in the arts and sciences. There are also certificate programs in early childhood education, social services, dental hygienist, and others. Classes are held on the quarter system. The Pierce College Raiders Athletics Department competes in the Western Region of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges. The Raiders currently field six teams and compete in soccer, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, baseball, and fastpitch. Raiders Athletics currently play off-campus until the 2007-2008 season when the volleyball and both basketball teams will play at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom in the new Health Education Center.
