St. Francis College

St. Francis College (also known as SFC) is a private, coeducational college located in Brooklyn Heights, New York, in the United States. It was founded in 1859 by the Franciscan friars as the St. Francis Academy. St. Francis College was the first private school in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn. As of 2010, 2,000 full time students and more than 400 part-time students from 80 countries attend the College. St. Francis College has been ranked by the New York Times as one of the more diverse colleges in the United States. The college has also been ranked by both Forbes Magazine and U.S. News and World Report as one of the top baccalaureate colleges in the north. St. Francis College was founded by Franciscan Brothers in 1859 as St. Francis Academy, the first private school in the diocese of Brooklyn. St. Francis Academy, dedicated to the education of the newly formed Brooklyn diocese’s Catholic boys, started in a building on Baltic Street. The Academy expanded and grew to encompass six row houses, with 150 feet (46 m) of frontage and a former Methodist Church on Baltic Street.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.
