Toronto Baptist Seminary and Bible College is a theological college in Toronto, Canada. "We believe God's inerrant and infallible Word is the rule for all of life and faith, and the principal means by which the Holy Spirit transforms lives so that the Lord Jesus Christ might be glorified and adored. We aim to train and mentor pastors and Christian workers who have a passionate love for the triune God and a solidly Reformed understanding of His Word." "I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord" (Phil. 3:8). The school was founded in 1927 and is currently located at 130 Gerrard Street East near Allan Gardens and has a longstanding relationship with the nearby Jarvis Street Baptist Church. The school was proposed in 1925 by Dr. T.T. Shields, editor of The Gospel Witness and pastor of the Jarvis Street Baptist Church who was dismayed by the modernism that was taking hold in contemporary theological institutions. McMaster University's McMaster Divinity College, which provided training for Ontario and Quebec's Baptist ministers, drew Shields' evangelical fundamentalist ire when it appointed a liberal professor to the faculty of theology.
