University of La Verne College of Law

The University of La Verne College of Law is a private law school in Ontario, California. Founded in 1970, it is part of the University of La Verne. The College of Law was provisionally approved by the American Bar Association in 2006, but the approval was denied effective June 30, 2011. The school offers the Juris Doctor (JD) law degree. This requires 88 credits which can be done on a full-time basis over 3 years or on a part- time basis over four years. The school offers two dual degree programs in conjunction with the University of La Verne College of Business and Public Management, the Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration (JD/MBA) and Juris Doctor/Master of Public Administration (JD/MPA). In 2001, the law school established a new campus in downtown Ontario. It is near the Ontario Civic Center and the city library. It is not a member of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS), but has paid a fee to receive AALS services. 41.1% of the Class of 2009 were known to be working for law firms in the private sector nine months after graduation. 31% of Class of 2009 graduates were known to hold positions that required bar passage nine months after graduation. 26.
