West Valley College

West Valley College is a community college in northern California. Founded in 1963, the campus is located on 143 acres (579,000 m²) in the city of Saratoga. One of the distinguishing features of the school's location is that it is located right off of the West Valley Freeway. West Valley College is part of Silicon Valley's West Valley-Mission Community College District, which also administers Mission College in nearby Santa Clara, California, in turn part of the California Community Colleges System. The district serves the cities of Campbell, Los Gatos, Morgan Hill, Monte Sereno, Santa Clara, and San Jose. The district headquarters is on the West Valley College campus. In 2004, the school had a total enrollment of 10,719 students, and its faculty has 198 full-time and 270 associate members. As of 2005, West Valley College offered 61 associate's degree programs and 94 certificate programs. Aside from traditional programs, West Valley College offers degrees in Interior Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Fashion design, Park Management, Heath Care Technologies, Paralegal, Child Studies, Engineering and Drafting. The mascot of West Valley College is the West Valley Vikings.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
