Yishun Junior College (YJC) is one of the 17 junior colleges in Singapore, offering two-year pre-university programmes for students who graduate from secondary schools after the General Certificate of Education 'Ordinary' Level Examination. The two-year programme prepares students for education in local or foreign universities. Yishun Junior College received the value-added silver award for 2005. It is also one of the top-ten "value-added" junior colleges in 2005 and 2006. Unlike other junior colleges in Singapore which offer fixed subject combinations, YJC offers students flexibility in subject combinations for GCE Advanced Level. This stems from the belief that students should take ownership of their own education. The students participate in co-curricular activities, community involvement programmes (CIP), and leadership development programmes. As far as possible, all students experience, besides their 'A' level studies, an adventure camp, an overseas immersion programme or service-learning CIP, and a work attachment with a local or foreign company.
