American International University-Bangladesh (Bengali: আমেরিকান ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটি-বাংলাদেশ) (AIUB) is a private research university located at Banani in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 1994 by Dr. Anwarul Abedin under the Private University Act, 1992. The university is an independent organization with its own Board of Trustees. It offers several degree programs at graduate and undergraduate level from its four faculties. The university has over 9,000 students with over 280 full-time faculty members. In January 2011,Webometrics ranked this university 2nd among private universities and 4th among all Universities in Bangladesh in their Ranking Web of World University list. The University is on Kamal Atatürk Avenue, Banani, Dhaka. It has six campuses with two administrative buildings along with AQAC. Different campuses houses different faculties and departments: AIUB has purchased more than 3 acres (12,000 m) of land near baily road, Dhaka for constructing a permanent campus. Full-scale initial planning and designing is going on to build a state of the art permanent campus within the next couple of years.
