The American University of Antigua is a private institution of higher education located near the capital city of St. John's in the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda and features the American International College of Arts and Sciences - Antigua, College of Medicine, School of Nursing, and College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The American University of Antigua (AUA) was founded by New York lawyer Neal S. Simon, who formerly served as president of Ross University. AUA is listed in FAIMER's International Medical Education Directory as having started instruction in 2004. The primary educational program at AUA is a 4 year program (but may take longer due to limited availability of US clinical rotations during years three and four), which leads to an Doctor of Medicine degree. Half of this time is spent in Antigua for basic sciences, where the remaining 2 years is spent in the U.S. at affiliated hospitals in clinical rotations.
