Berkeley City College

Berkeley City College (BCC), formerly Vista Community College, one of the California Community Colleges, is part of the Peralta Community College District. It is a member of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Berkeley City College is centrally located in downtown Berkeley, two blocks from the UC Berkeley campus. Berkeley City College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Berkeley City College in addition to the other three campuses of the Peralta College District are currently on probation for "fiscal insolvency and stability" imposed by WASC. Berkeley City College serves students who seek general education, transfer to four-year universities, degrees and certificates in liberal arts and occupational areas, career preparation or precollegiate skills. The student body represents a diverse mix of ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds. They are high school students enrolled in advanced courses, full-time workers, people who wish to transfer to a four-year university and individuals who are the first in their families to attend college, among others.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
