Blyth Community College

Blyth Community College is a secondary school in Blyth, Northumberland, England. It was opened in 2000 following the amalgamation of Tynedale High School and Ridley High School. It was built for 1450 students and has an estimated figure of around 1500 students, and is made up of years 7 through to 11; with two sixth form years. It employs roughly 160 teachers and teaching assistants. In 2008, the college changed its name to The Blyth School, Community College. In September 2010 the school opened its doors to Year 7&8 pupils, adopting a two tier focus to fall in line with recent changes in the Northumberland's school system. Along with this new year group, additional staff were hired with many transferring from middle schools that subsequently closed. In with the change, the Community College have teamed up with primary schools in Blyth. The Blyth Schools consists of the following: The Blyth School Community College offers a range of subject choices, from history to childcare, to languages to electronics. However, the school has come bottom in Northumberland's Secondary School League tables for quite a few years now. In 2008 the school received its best GCSE results ever.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.
