The system of schools has 24 locations throughout the United States, and has an enrollment of 11,436 students (as of June 2008). The Brown Mackie College schools are owned by Education Management Corporation, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The schools provide Bachelor's degrees, Associate’s degrees, diplomas and certification programs. The Brown Mackie College system of schools began with a single school, Kansas Wesleyan School of Business, which began operation on September 12, 1892. In 1938, the school was incorporated as The Brown Mackie School of Business under the ownership of Perry E. Brown and A.B. Mackie, former instructors at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas. In following years, this school and others that were to become part of the Brown Mackie College system were operated by numerous organizations and eventually were united as a system under the parent company of American Education Centers (AEC), founded in 1993 and headquartered in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
