Cachar College(Bengaliকাছার কলেজ), established in 1960 at Silchar, is a co-educational institution. It offers Intermediate (10+2 level) and First Degree Level (10+2+3 level) courses in Arts, Commerce and Science. The College is recognized by UGC under Sections 2(f) and 12 (B) and is affiliated to Assam University, Silchar. The college has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with B status. At the time of its inception in 1960, the short-term objective of Cachar College was to make higher education available to the people of Silchar and Cachar district. As the socio-economic scenario of the region has changed over the years, the college has also updated its mission and vision from time to time. In the new millennium, the college has set the following goals - (i) It intensely aspires for providing its learners with excellent teaching in their fields of study. (ii) It takes care to organise the class-room and co-curricular activities to ensure a preparedness for life long learning. (iii) The College looks forward to see its learners take up excellent career relevant to the need of the nation.
