Carmel College

Carmel College is a Catholic secondary school for girls located in Milford on Auckland's North Shore. It was established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1957 starting with a student roll of only fifteen girls. Carmel College is situated on the northern shore of Lake Pupuke. Carmel College students take part in a range of activities throughout New Zealand including Stage Challenge, Big Sing Choral Festival and Pacifica. The school has a number of clubs, including chess, choir, orchestra, ski, rowing, and netball. The new science and maths block has been completed and is currently in use. Carmel College is currently undergoing major renovations expected to continue over a period of 10 years with a new gymnasium, auditorium, chapel, and a relocation of the Nun's Residence. Carmel celebrated its 50th Jubilee in June 2007 with a reunion of many Carmel "Old-Girls", in celebrations lasting a week with songs by the various music groups, a wall of photographic remembrance, a time capsule (destined to be dug up in the next 50 years) and more. Pauline Engel was a founder of the school.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
