Feather River College

Feather River College is a 2-year community college located in Quincy, California. Enrollment in the Fall 2008 semester was 1,495 students total. Feather River College was founded in July 1968, when Plumas County was added to the Peralta Community College District. The association with the Peralta district was ended in 1988, and the Feather River Community College District was formed. Perched on a mountain side forested with pine and oak, Feather River College is in a quiet, rural community. Bordering Plumas National Forest, the 256-acre (1.04 km) campus hosts a variety of wildlife, including a resident deer herd. Far removed from the bustle of city life, the campus provides a sanctuary for self discovery, study and relaxation. Academic rigor is maintained in a friendly, informal atmosphere by a faculty dedicated to student growth and success. In addition to the classrooms and laboratories, the campus features unique facilities that include a trout hatchery and an equestrian center with horse boarding facilities. Feather River College is a public, two year community college, fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Student Stories

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
