K L University, officially Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation, formerly Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering is a Deemed university located in the Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh, India. K L University consists of 11 academic departments, and six schools of excellence, with a strong emphasis on scientific and technological research. Established in 1980, the college is located in a 50 Acre site abutting Buckingham Canal, about 8 km from Vijayawada in Guntur District. The college is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and accredited by the National Board of Accreditation. The college is certified by ISO 9001 - 2000. The college was established in 1980 by the late Sri Koneru Lakshmaiah and Sri K.Satyanarayana at Vaddeswaram. The late Sri K.Lakshmaiah (graduate of BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore), realizing the scarcity of local engineers, came up with the idea of establishing an engineering college. The Secretary and Correspondent Sri K. Satyanarayana (also a graduate from BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore) has since taken over the reins as Chairman.
