Mälardalen University College (Swedish: Mälardalens högskola), or MdH, is a university college (högskola) located in Västerås and Eskilstuna, Sweden. It has 13,000 students and over 1,000 employees, of which around 40 are professors. Mälardalen University College is the world's first environmentally certified school according to the international standard ISO 14001. Since 1 January 2008, Mälardalen College has been officially organized into four schools: Prior to 2008, the university college had nine departments: Professor Ingegerd Palmér was appointed President of Mälardalen University College by the Swedish Government and took office on 17 October 2005. Palmér has a PhD in Mathematics and has filled various positions at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm University and Luleå University of Technology. She served two full terms as President of Luleå University of Technology between 1994–2005, leaving office due to term limits. She is a fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.
