Marian College

Marian College is a Roman Catholic, co-educational secondary day school in Ararat, Victoria, Australia. Established in 1955, Marian College works under the governance of the Brigidine sisters. The school is a member of the Catholic All Schools Sports Association (CAS). Marian College was founded in 1888 by the Brigidine Sisters from Ireland. The foundress being Mother Gertrude Kelly. It follows the five Brigidine Core Values and is under the motto "Fortiter et Suaviter" - Strength and Gentleness. The first teachers of the school were five Brigidine nuns from Ireland sent by Bishop Daniel Delany to Australia. The sisters came on the boat "The Ormuz" and moved into the new brick convent. The original convent is still in use in the school today housing the chapel, parlour, hall, offices, library and staff area. The parlour, the most beautiful room in the school, was painted by Sister Kate Griffin, for whom a wing in the school is named.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
