Babol Noshirvani University of Technology is a technical university located in the heart of the city of Babol, 200 km north of Tehran, Iran. It is one of the oldest Technical Universities in the country. Established in 1970 by the famous Iranian businessman and philanthropist Hossein Fallah Noshirvani (Persian حسین فلاح نوشیروانی) as Technical Teachers Training Institute of Babol, the institute was extended to the Noshirvani Technical University in 1971. In 1979 it amalgamated with University of Mazandaran and operated as University of Mazandaran Faculty of Engineering. In 2005, the process of independence from University of Mazandaran started and until March 2008 it was operated as "Noshirvani Institute of Technology (مجتمع آموزش عالی فنی و مهندسی نوشیروانی بابل)". As of March 2008 it has been upgraded to the Babol Noshirvani University of Technology.
