Okaloosa-Walton College

Okaloosa-Walton College is a four-year community college, located in Niceville, Florida. OWC was founded in 1963 as Okaloosa-Walton Junior College, with its campus in Valparaiso, Florida; students started class the next year. A permanent campus in Niceville was built and started serving students with the 1969-70 academic year. The school voted to change its name to Okaloosa-Walton Community College in 1988, and gained four-year status in 2003, thus changing its name to Okaloosa-Walton College. OWC also has a charter high school called the Okaloosa-Walton Collegiate High School, which opened in 2000. In June 2008, Florida Governor Charlie Crist will sign a bill that allows several community colleges, including OWC, to offer four year degrees and be considered part of Florida's upper education under the newly-formed Florida College Pilot Project Fort Walton Beach Campus (Okaloosa County) Chautauqua Center (Walton County) Robert LF Sikes Center (Crestview, Florida)(Okaloosa County) Eglin AFB Center (Okaloosa County) Hurlburt AFB Center (Okaloosa County) South Walton Center* (Walton County) In May, there is a Constitutional Convention.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.
