Pandit Sundarlal Sharma University

Pandit Sundarlal Sharma (Open) University (PSSOU) is a state university located in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, India. PSSOU was established on 20 January 2005. It is named after Pandit Sundarlal Sharma. The academy of this university aims at educating more and more people of rural socially economically backwards and to those who have craving for education but can’t manage to go far in distant big cities. The university also offers special distance learning programs for Handicaps thus the working of this university is different from that in the conventional universities. The Open University system is more learner-oriented, and the student has to be an active participant in the teaching-learning process. Most of the instructions are imparted through distance education rather than face-to-face communication. The university tries to follow a multi-channel approach for instruction with the help of Print Media, Audio-Visual Material, Counselling Sessions and Web Based Support. The academy of PSSOU aims at educating more and more people of rural socially economically backwards and to those who have craving for education but can’t manage to go far in distant big cities.
