The Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra —or Mother and Teacher Pontifical Catholic University (also called PUCMM or Pucamaima) is the first private, Roman Catholic, coeducational, university located in the Dominican Republic. The university grants undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and professional degrees through three campuses. Its main campus is in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros, and it has smaller campus extensions in Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata. The University was established on September 9, 1962 and it has become the country's top institution of higher education. It has achieved several "firsts", like being the first to offer Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics Engineering. It is ranked #1 in the country in Business Administration and Law. The institution is in charge of assigning the internet domains in the Dominican Republic. It also offers graduate level degrees, and dual degrees with associated universities in the United States and France.
