Shaw University

Shaw University is a private liberal arts institution and historically black university specializing in social research and the liberal arts, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA with its "College of Adult Professional Education" campuses located throughout the state of North Carolina. It is the oldest HBCU in the Southern United States. Shaw is affiliated with the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and is a member of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. which also supports the Shaw University Divinity School. Furthermore, Shaw University is one of the co-founding institutions of the NCAA Division II's Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Conference which is the oldest African American athletic association in the country, along with Howard University, Hampton University, Lincoln University, PA and Virginia Union University as co-founders. And as of the recent 2010-11 academic school year, the university have won the CIAA championships in Football, Basketball(both women's and men's teams), and Men's Tennis.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
