Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering (SSNCE), popularly known as SSN, is an engineering institution located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The college is certified to ISO 9001:2000 standard by the National Board of Accreditation. Ravichandran Ashwin,the international Indian cricketer graduated from SSN. He was a part of the India national cricket team which won the 2011 Cricket World Cup. Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering was started in 1996 affiliated to Anna University. This institution was founded by Padma Bhushan Dr.Shiv Nadar, industrialist and philanthropist, the founder and chairman of HCL Technologies, a global IT Services company. The admissions policy strongly favours merit. The college was opened in 1996 at a temporary location in Thoraipakkam in the suburbs of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It later moved to a sprawling 1 square kilometre campus at Kalavakkam on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (Old Mahabalipuram Road) in 1998. Every year the management provides about four Crore scholarships for eligible students. There is a "walkin-walkout" scholarship awarded to top 10 rank holders in high school exams.
